Hello!

I am working on a car with a 2jz, which sometimes starts very roughly. It sometimes ignites into the wrong cylinder or crank-cam syncing just doesn’t happen. But some days it doesn’t have any problems after many starts. I attached the scope picture and the config. I would like some help with this, if anyone has ever experienced something like this.

Thank you in advance!

your trigger settings aren’t correct. can you give me a little more detail about the engine? stock/modified? custom harness? oem? I assume VR sensors? have you set ignition timing yet? (i’m guessing not based on the configuration)

The engine is completely rebuilt (con-rod, pistons, camshaft, cylinder head, intake manifold, G35-900 turbo, custom harness, PRO 8, ADU, PMU, and other ECUMaster accessories). With 1.6 boost it produced 857Nm and 714HP.

According ur scope i would set ur primary trigger edge to rising…then thooth 0 is not inbetween the gap.

Then ur trigger window end is quite borderline…after the change i would set the window to 0-5.

I forgot to add that the crank and camshaft sensors are oem.

Turn off the VVT control for now. Wrong synchronization or teeth angle configuration would cause some problems during the startup. When you would make proper trigger configuration, get back to it.

I noticed you have _Engine RPM min_ set to 0, is there any reason for it?

I had no other idea, I try it.

Could wrong crankshaft polarity cause such a problem?

You can select rising or falling edge, it is important to choose the right one.
Example from running.emuproscp:

 ![obraz](https://europe1.discourse-cdn.com/flex013/uploads/ecumaster/original/2X/c/cbdf71d6c811e7feb204e7418afff5d9c56bd987.png)
With falling edge you have two gaps instead of one longer gap. Rising edge should be better for the primary trigger.

Afterwards configure the secondary trigger window to fulfil following requirements:

- window large enough to include VVT position range
- window small enough to not overlap the neighbouring teeth for any VVT position
- set window for the tooth which is not located on the crank gap

Only configured edge is taken into account.

Thank you, I will try these.
