Hi, got a k24 engine on a pro 8, it starts fine and idles absolutely fine everything perfect until oil temp gets anywhere between 76-77degrees then I get a primary unexpected missing tooth 11 and then engine dies.

Sure, we can check what the cause of your issue.

What is a primary trigger pattern - additiona tooth (N+1) or missing tooth (N-1 or N-2)?

Could you please record and send us scope files of your engine under the following conditions:

1. During cranking
2. At idle when the engine is cold
3. At idle when the engine is warmer

Additionally, a recording of the moment when the engine is dying would be very helpful.
There is a **[Ctrl + Space]** shortcut that allows you to collect longer scope recordings.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks for getting back, the trigger wheel is 12+1. Yes I’ll get scope recording you requested. I have a log file of when the engine dies if that helps?

Thanks again

Yes, please also attach the log if you already have it.

If you can capture these three scope files (1., 2., 3.), that would be a good to start.

One more question: how often does the engine die? Is it consistent under the conditions you described in your post?

If it is easy for you to capture the moment when it dies using a longer scope recording, that would be perfect, but it is not required.

I’ve uploaded log and map if that helps

Yes every time it’s the same, once oil gets to 76 shuts off and will not start at all, if I leave it 5 min it will start again run for a min until oil gets back to 76 then shuts off.

Thank you for providing all the scope files.
We will analize and will get back to you in a few days.

It’s an issue with the crankshaft signal (primary N+1). The signal is filtered too heavily.

Please see the first screenshot, it’s from your longer scope file. One impulse is missing, and this is the root cause of the problem.

Please reduce the filter setting (see the second screenshot below).

This engine uses a Hall sensor, which is typically very low-noise, so even the “Filter = None” setting may work correctly. Please let us know which filter setting works best for your configuration.

Red mark shows the missing impulse:

Please lower the Filter on the Primary Input:
