Tune display nesting

Is there something I’m missing? Is the tune display supposed to nest on a tab(s) like all the other windows? I feel like it should in some capacity, it’s either in the way all the time or requires a click / hotkey and then it ends up in the way of something inevitably.

Maybe there should be 2 different types, a big one that comes up with F7 like this, and one that is nestable and could “stick” to certain tabs just like tables and logged value lists.

Overall I do like the nested structure of the pro software vs black, seems like a lots of opinions lately on this, just a matter of taste for me of course.

Both types are available.

F7 opens a floating panel.

F9 opens a list of panels you can add to the desktop.
From here, you can add a tune display panel to any desktop.

Super awesome! Thank you!

Don’t have F keys on all my laptops but got me on the right track. Don’t know how I missed it.

VS

I see.

Now I think the panels you can put on the desktop should be in the “Desktop” menu, not “Tools”.

We might change that.
Thank you for the feedback.

Idk, that’s a tough one. I don’t see an issue with it now that I know  . I was looking for it in the “windows” menu originally. It kind of functions separately from the reset of the “desktop” items in that they all land on the “desktop” and the tuning display window “breaks away” from the “desktop”. Almost like eventually some other things should be able to “break away” from the “desktop” in a similar way later down the road.

The more I dig, maybe this entire thing should be restructured or at least consistently named

  • The “windows” naming in the “select panel” list is misleading as they aren’t really “windows”, they are just “generic panels” or “universal panels”.. something like that???
  • All the items in the tools dropdown just snap in except the tune display in that menu, that’s annoying because it messes up then entire desktop in front of you when a big tree just bullies it’s way into the desktop.
  • In fact, there probably shouldn’t even be hotkeys for building out the desktop by default. The hotkeys should only bring up dedicated windows (only the tune display at the moment) and the add/replace panel

talking through it, maybe getting rid of “windows” menu all together makes more sense

  • Tools = extra stuff that brings up dedicated windows
  • Desktop = stuff for building out the desktops
  • Windows = these two items should just move to the Desktop menu
