Does anyone have any recommendations for a suitable crimp tool for the Sicma 1.5 and 2.8 terminals for the Black ECU? I’ve seen the astronomically expensive Race Spec ones, but I’m doing just one or two looms for myself so after something more budget friendly.
Cheers!
I use this one, it’s a great tool and the price is low. Knipex 97 52 34 PreciForce® Crimping Tool - 220 mm
Also available in Würth, the same. Würth Crimpzange 0714107110
Thank you so much. And that does both size terminals does it? I’m a bit confused by it being described as being for 2.8 and 4.8 mm plug widths.
I find all this crimping stuff so unclear!
It works with both sizes terminals. These pliers are designed specifically for those standard automotive tab widths, so you don’t need separate tools for each size.
They’re actually a great choice for these types of terminals and cover most small automotive connectors you’ll come across. They also work well with terminals that use silicone wire seals, which is really useful for modern sealed connectors.
Crimping can definitely feel confusing at first, but once you match the tool to the terminal type (open barrel vs insulated, size, etc.), it becomes much more straightforward
Thanks again for your help. I ordered a ‘used’ pair from Amazon which were roughly half the price I could see them anywhere else. They turned up today - brand new. Hopefully this will get things progressing.
Cheers!
