2026 Audi RS3 8Y - ADU OBD2 Support

I’m trying to install an ADU7 into an Audi RS3 8Y (2026) using the OBD2 protocol but so far I didn’t had any success.

I’ve sniffed the OBD2 can bus between the obd port and the ADU, the ADU does send the 7DF request but don’t get any response.

So I decided to install into an 2019 Ford Ka 1.5 that I won, at first it also didn’t worked, but then I tried to change the refresh rate from the 100hz that comes as standard to 50hz and 25hz and it started to work. Made the same on the Audi but still don’t get any response.

What I think it could be the issue:

  • This Audi have the OBD2 protected by the gateway / firewall and it needs specific scan tool that unlocks the readings.
  • This Audi have a different OBD2 protocol standard that the ADU don’t support as it comes from factory (it would need a custom CAN message request in order to starts getting the PIDs back)
  • This Audi have a CAN FD on the CAN BUS.

I’m not sure what direction to follow to make it work.

I have found that CAN Checked MFD works with 8Y audi’s but I don’t know how they managed to do it.

This is what they states on their website:

So I started looking around and found this:

This may be the standard used by this Audi generation. I couldn’t find the PDF file online yet, just the older 2008 version that I have attached here.

Do someone have managed to make an ADU work on these newer Audi / VAG cars via OBD2 port?
