I have been chasing a backfire situation and can’t pinpoint it. In the image, the backfire happens after downshifting, letting the clutch out, the rpm starts to climb, and I begin to ease back in to the throttle (backfire happens at TPS = 1% in the log.
I noticed that the engine leaves Fuel Cut and goes in to idle. The closed timing timing control comes in and the timing drops to -8 deg, BUT when I let out the clutch in second gear (from third), the RPM starts to climb, but the timing remains at -8 and drops from 1200ish to 900-ish on the two timing correction charts. The actual timing follows suit. Am I doing something wrong here or is this a bug?
Back to the backfire, I am stumped. I simply don’t know what to do to eliminate this backfire. It doesn’t happen all the time, but it does happen often when down shifting, a short bit of engine brake, and then getting back in to the throttle…BOOM! Help!!! Please!!!
