I was playing around with the gain to calibrate the Knock sensor for my engine and as I was lowering it I came to the conclusion I don’t know where should I stop and consider that noise as engine noise.
On Emu Black ecu I had the reference of under 3V (2-3V) for engine noise and any spike above 3V was considered Knock.
What should be an expected Detection Sensor Signal for engine noise for EMU pro sice I don’t see the voltage here?
As far as I understand best practices
You should say what’s acceptable for your engine.
You refine signal with overall gain and per-cylinder adjustment so that cylinder levels fit within the monitoring range, baseline it with safe ignition numbers (+ corrections for overrun, shifts, temp whatever), set limits and, preferably, use additional hardware to double check your baselines.
There can’t be magic voltage numbers as exhaust parts, engine clearances and a lot of other things affect the noise level at different rev ranges.
Also there’s a big topic of the natural frequency (and it’s harmonics) you can choose for your particular setup
