I’m using a PMU 16 in a 56 Chevy truck using late model Corvette seats with seat heaters. I do have the schematics for the seats. GM controls the heaters via PWM voltage that is then monitored via thermister so that the seat doesn’t overheat. I’m wondering if anybody has any data that might help with this: frequency, duty cycle, temperatures, etc.?
Many thanks!
I have a working solution for this, both for varying the heat, and monitoring the sensor, if anyone is doing something similar.
We’ve only done them without monitoring. I think it was like 30, 60, and 95%. Never had one overheat. You could use the thermistor and set temp vs dc limits in a table if you are worried about it.
Right. I ran it at 90% for an hour. Temps only got to about 40 after all that time, so I agree, they are safe and don’t need monitoring. It’s more a matter of me making sure I understand how it works.
