It looks like there is some confusion about which pin does what.
Pin 12 - Supply 12V
This is a power supply pin.
Everything in ADU is supplied from this pin, including the RTC.
The maximum current draw is below 1 A, but it can be above 500 mA.
Current draw mostly depends on the LEDs and screen brightness.
Pin 11 - Switched 12V
This is only a signal input to turn on the display.
The current draw of that pin is less than 5 mA.
With such a small current, any reason not to run a single fused 1amp wire split to both pins 11 and 12 for easy of wiring?
only advantage to splitting them up is delayed turn off.
I regularly wire both pins to the same switched supply.

Many thanks again, for ease of wiring I think I’ll do the same.
I just remembered one more minor disadvantage.
Things that are updated during operation and saved to permanent memory might not be the most recent when switching off without a permanent supply.
ADU updates the permanent memory every 2 minutes or after the value changes, but not more often than every 2 minutes. That means you can lose the changes that happened to those values during the last 2 minutes.
With a permanent supply, everything is saved before switching off.
Those values are meters (odometer, trip) and autosaved channels.
