Remote load of a Tune via SD Card - Feature Request

Would it be possible to use i.e. SD card in EDL-1 to load “new” tune to V3 ECU on “boot”?
Similar way as FW upgrade is done for EDL.

Sometimes a small fix is needed and I can imagine it would be easiest way to do it without using a laptop and client.

Just send a file to customer over email or so, ask him to write it onto SD card and put it into EDL-1 and turn power on.

Maybe you know a different way that could be used to load new tune “remotely” in an easy way?

Thank you.

I don’t see how that’s significantly easier.

You need to remove the card from the car, insert it into the computer, copy the file, and then reinsert the card.

Versus

You have to connect the USB cable, connect to the ECU, upload the file, and disconnect.

This is only better if someone doesn’t have a laptop, but has a PC with an SD card slot.
Why did you start to think about a feature like that? If you had a problem with the user uploading the project file, can you describe the problem?

There are users and users.

Not going into details for me use case is as follows - IHAC that is 400km away.

He’s a doctor and knows how to read emails and how to copy photos to his laptop from his DSLR.

Now he knows how to send me logs from SD card in EDL-1 (almost like copying photos from DSLR).

I did warmup corrections while being around, but he’s not happy with that, he wants to revert back to previous setup. With client connected directly it’s easy (even remotely via remote screen sharing). But with no client connected via USB…

It might be possible, but it would be a big task.
We have nothing of the sort, so it would require addressing issues that don’t currently exist and extensive testing. This system would have to be very reliable, because a single issue here will be worse than teaching someone how to upload a tune.

Currently, it appears that there are not enough benefits for the amount of work that would be required. And I think it’s the first ever request like that.

I understand that there are users who are not computer savvy. However, if someone can download files from an SD card, I don’t see a reason why they can’t connect a USB cable, open an application, make a few clicks, and then disconnect. A simple few-point instruction should be enough to teach a person like that.

Just asking

Hardcore version would be to send SD card with postal services to mail address and ask for replacing SD card next drive
