Hi guys,
Is it possible that there is an problem with the synced H-bridge ouput?
I have an EALV40, and i want to activate this wih H-bridge 1 & 2.
When i activate the valve with either H-bride 1 or 2 only, it will work properly.
But when i sync the H-bridges together, i will get a fault and it doens’t work (like 90% of the time).
Hi,
When H-bridges are synchronized, there is no automatic current limitation.
In case of overcurrent for too long, the fault is saved and outputs turned off.
The overcurrent threshold is around 15 A for two bridges.
Turbosmart gates can take around 25 A to achieve maximum speed/force.
You have to limit the minimum/maximum duty cycle so as not to trigger overcurrent protection.
Big jumps in DC when testing can also trigger the overcurrent protection. Instead of going from 0% DC and a stopped motor to 100% DC immediately, do it in a few steps.
That’s the trick.
Is there a way i can log or check the actual current whitch the H-bridges are using?
So that i know when i am nearly on the limit of 15A?
There is no actual current measurement for the h-bridge outputs.
Those outputs only know if the current is over the threshold or not.
The basic method for selecting the duty cycle limits is to find the maximum DC that is very close to tripping the protection and apply some safety margin to it.
If you have PDM, maybe you can check the average current of the ECU when the motor is running.
