Adding ADU 5" to existing EMU Black

I had installed EMU Black and is running fine. I was wondering if a ADU display can be added. My original cluster is working but it would be nice to have the digital display as well. The ADU 5" looks like a great addition.

Sure Besides the extra wiring loom for the display features you wanna use you will only need from EMU Black a 2 wire canbus… I would also Consider the 7"inch its really nicer.

Hey ngt, you mean one of these? The ADU 5 is all I can fit to the dash. As far as the wiring. I see where I just need to run CAN2 H and CAN2 L to EMU and then CAN 1 H and CAN 2 L to canbus? Does this sound right? Thanks

Hi,

Unlike EMU Black, ADU is configured via CAN bus. Because of that it is required to use the USBtoCAN or other supported interface.

To connect the ADU to EMU Black you can use the same CAN1 bus as for the configuration, as well as the CAN2. For more information and connection example see ADU manual, chapter 2.3

EMU Black has a built in default CAN stream, which you can use in ADU by importing the EMU_BLACK.canx file in the Project tree.

Also, you to create custom CAN messages in EMU Black and receive them in ADU.

I ordered the USB TO CAN from ecumaster. Question: If I unplug the ECU to connect the wires from the ADU, will I loose the program in the ECU? Thanks

If you mean the power wires that go to EMU Black then the answer is NO the calibration is not lost if the power is swithced of or ECU is unplugged.

I was able to connect the ADU thanks to Chris at ECU master and this group. The display is impressive.
So far working well.
I’m interested in using the display to show vehicle speed. Has anyone achieved this? It would be nice to have.
