BMW S50B30 Euro Triggers

I am planning an ecu swap for a S50B30 engine. This was the first of the Euro spec M3 engines. It used a separate ecu and vanos controller.

It has 3 cam sensors, to the OEM ECU one cam sensor on the intake (vanos cam) that is pined to the chain pully so it does not advance, they used this for the home sync.

It then has a 8 tooth exhaust cam trigger and an N+1 trigger for the vanos cam.

I am trying to figure out what cam sensors i need to use do i just need the N+1 or do i need the 1 pulse sync also?

Any help or even a base map will be of help.

We didn’t use the exhaust cam sensor on our S50B30 euro .

did you use both intake cam sensors the 1 tooth for sync and the N+1 for VVT or just the N+1?

Camsync 1 was the phase sensor and camsync 2 is the intake cam position

I think I have a base map but not at home until the weekend .
