Instructions call for 5-12v for the red wire. 12v(switched) is already occupied with my harness and I’d rather not cut into it. Pins 26 and 34 on the black connector (on the EMU) are listed as 5v supply. Will one of those work?
No, use a switched 12V source; does not have to be the same circuit as the Ecu.
The 5V supply is for sensors.
Thanks for that info. According to the laminated pin-out guide that came with my EMU black, Pin 18 on the grey connector is the only switched 12v pin (labeled Ignition 12v) Does that sound correct?
yes that one must be switched.
The Black connector pin 13 is listed as “constant 12V” but its fine being switched as well. Which one you use depends on how your car is wired but since CAN is on the Black connector its nice to keep it all on the same connector.
I’ve got the bluetooth module connected to the EMU now. Android phone will pair with the module but will not connect. Flashing red light on the module. What’s going on?
Double check the wiring. Make sure CAN high and low are not swapped and that there’s a terminating resistor installed.
Wiring has been triple checked and resistor is installed. The EMU is installed as a piggyback, could that have anything to do with it?
EDIT: While connecting via the android bluetooth menu doesn’t work, if I use the torque app to connect, it appears that the phone is connecting to the bluetooth module, but the bluetooth module doesn’t connect to the car (CANBUS?). Application is a MR2 Spyder with PNP harness, EMU is a piggyback here.
no piggyback install shouldn’t change how it works.
Is there any other devices on the CAN bus?
What does the ecu software say the CAN status is?
Has the check box under CAN Parameters that enables the bluetooth module been checked?
Whats the LED on the Bluetooth module doing when trying to connect?
I don’t think there are any other items on the canbus, just the EMU. This is a stock MR2 spyder (with SMT transmission/TCU) ECUMaster software was setup according to the instructions and CAN status is green on the status bar at the bottom. LED will blink red until I open torque app (or realdash) then it goes solid red.
Ecumaster support is telling me to test the resistance from can L to can H. Where should I put the multimeter probes to check this?
Disconnect ur EMU black and ur bluethooth adapter and measure on both connectors and post the reading.
It is strange when ur EMU says CAN is okay and bluethooth modul not while both are the only devices on the CAN. If one is faulty, the other should also indicate a CAN error in a two device only setup.
