I have an Emu black on a Mk4 R32 with a DQ500 from an RS3. I’ve tried my best to get the transmission to perform basic settings, but it keeps aborting due to safety reasons. When the engine is running the TCU has fault P0726 for the engine speed sensor implausible signal. I’ve found this previous thread with a much similar scenario, except it was for no signal.
The solution ended up being that the transmission did not have an input speed sensor installed. The TCU is a PQ35 Continental unit. It does have the input speed sensor installed, I’ve torn the entire transmission apart due to the previous person leaving out the oil tubes running to the mechatronic unit and seen the sensor installed. I’ve checked the live data in the TCU with the engine running, the engine speed and input speed sensor values are basically identical. I’m hoping someone that knows more about the system can lead me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.
So I was playing around at that time with a tuner to get a TCU tune. Had some issues writing it becase it had to be written as an .frf base file first then do changes incrementaly with AutoTuner and I had some obd2port wiring issues that prevented Odis engineering to write it. In the end I solved it and the file was flashed. Since the file was not having my gearbox gear ratios I was not able to properly drive it and previous file got flashed back.
The new file was having another version then the stock file, I believe an older one. But after I changed the sensor both errors disappeared.
At some point we had to flash back stock to check something and both errors appeared. In this moment I understood that it’s not only hardware related, the TCU software should have a specific version in order to use the sensor and not expect the value in CAN stream.
