Hello, I see lot of N54 related posts but none of them provided the answer to the question:
Can I read the N54 engine cam angle with EMU Black, and how? In the latest release software, there is no options for the N54 cam pattern, but maybe someone has done it? Ecumaster ECU’s are a bit new to me, so maybe there is some certain trick to get it read the cam pattern of N54?
I want to control the VANOS with it.
And yes the engine is already “port converted”. 
I have experience with the n54 but not on the emu black. Yes, the cam sensors are just typical hall sensors and the pattern shouldn’t be anything that different than standard. I think it’s just 2 tooth or 3 tooth -1 but can’t say for sure what will work. It doesn’t hurt to unplug the injectors and coils and try a few things to see if you can get a successful reading. You might need a scope to really figure it out though.
Sometimes what I do if I’m lazy is I’ll open up a few different standalone softwares to see if they have base settings for the engine and just look at those and copy them as a starting point
