EMU Black trigger unexpected tooth errors

Hi, I am seeing some trigger unexpected tooth errors on cranking and i also see line with circle on the scope trace on 1st tooth after the missing tooth on 36-1 trigger wheel. Seems to run okay when it starts but sometimes there are sync errors during cranking because of unexpected missing tooth error. Oscilliscope trace of trigger seems normal doesnt seem to be actually missing any teeth? Any idea what the circles mean on the scope?

Hello,

An unexpected missing tooth at the beginning of synchronization is occurring, and this is an error that can be ignored. If there are no errors while the engine is running, the missing tooth is most likely caused by uneven and low engine speed during cranking.

Best regards,

I had a similar problem on my K20a2. Whilst I had no issues, I was seeing ‘un-expected missing tooth’. After checking the trigger settings where correct for my engine, I set the input filter to be “None”, this resolved the issue.

yes, I tried setting input filter to “none” but it didnt help. As Artur Kisielewski says i belive my issue is most likely down to the uneven and low engine speed during cranking. I have noted when the battery is low and engine turning more slowly these errors are much more prevalent. With a fully charged battery the errors are less. I may need a stronger battery or possibly a faster starter upgrade .

I am running a jaguar V6 engine with 36-1 trigger type. When I had the next edge rejection angle set at 4%, I got a lot of trigger errors. I changed to 0% and, with fully charged battery, I just get a single trigger error when starting to crank and a single one when turning off the engine. Otherwise, there are no errors. I put the single errors down to the significant change in cranking speed at those points.
