Hello everyone. I’m having trouble with my emu black not powering off when I turn off the ignition. I’m running rb25 with a wiring specialties pro harness, and a aud7 display. Also has a wiring specialties buss man fuse block installed. I’ve checked all the pins on both connectors. The gray connector has no power on any of the pins with key off. The black connector has 12v on pin13 with key off and .15v on can hi and low. I’ve checked the ignition switch and unplugged it with no luck. If I disconnect the power for the harness that runs to the starter it turns off. I’m a bit confused on how it staying powered on if I don’t have any power to pin18 12v ignition. And don’t seem to have back feeding power to any other pins. Could this be a setting issues? I’ve also cut the power to the fuse box and it still doesn’t shut off. I’ll save a log tomorrow and upload it. Only other thing I can think of is a ground issue. If I disconnect the battery power or ground it will turn off. But will not turn back on until the ignition switch is on.
Look at page 21 and 22 of the first start checklist. Gives a couple examples of your problem related to H Bridge outputs and relays or solenoids. Fuel pump for an rb or sr is an example. I had an issue using the factory relay and the fuel pump not shutting off, ended up eliminating the factory relay for one in the trunk and it fixed the issue. Im running a WS RB25 OEM harness with the pnp adapter and they had the pump running off H Bridge 2B
B13 should have constant power, G18 switched 12v (page 2 constant battery connection)
Tech Note: When B13 is connected with G18 switched 12v instead of directly to the battery,
this may result with the EMU Black not powering off after “Key off” on some vehicles. Wire
B13 correctly if this occurs. If the problem persists, see “Troubleshooting notes” at the end of
the document for more help.
I call ecumaster they told me to un-pin all of the aux and h/bridge connections on the gray connector. Then start plugging them in one at a time and checking if the emu shuts off with the key. Sure enough aux3 pin5 for boost solenoid and aux5 pin12 fan relay were staying latched back feeding power keeping the emu powered up. Now that I know what components are causing the issue how do i fix it. Run diodes on the aux connections? The question is why is this a problem in the first place. The wiring specialties harness and the dual fan relays were from them causing the problem
This is a harness design issue.
The fan relay coil and boost solenoid should be connected to switch power, this is the case with pretty much all aftermarket ecu’s.
I deal with these kind of issues a lot on WS products…
Im pretty sure I have aux 3 and aux 5 set up same as you and I wasn’t having the same issues, just with the factory fuel pump relay. MAC valve and two fan relays. I ran new wiring for each though, the WS harness I have didn’t have those wired in.
Yeah all of my component’s were pre wired when I ordered the harness. I think the fix might be to wire in diodes for both aux outputs. Only thing with that is the mac valve and fan relays will still be powered and most likely drain the battery over time.
So the fix to the issue is 1n4007 diodes installed on the aux outputs to the relays. My fan relays, lift pump relay and boost solenoid were keeping the ecm on back feeding power.
