GM 4L80 Pressure Switch Mapping

Hi. New to ecumaster and have mostly a haltech background (with quite a few other kinds of ecus too).

I’ve searched the help, searched the forum here, browsed the client software and have generally tried to figure out how I would map the 3 pressure switches to a gear position. I didn’t see anything ‘ready to go’ where I just map in the 3 digital inputs. I’ve got everything else figured out though.

I guess we have to build this manually in the project tree? Not a problem - I’d like to make sure I’m not overlooking something first.

Also, a more general question. Since these switches aren’t going to be valid until the motor is running is this going to be problem for any other strategies dependent on these switches during start/cranking?

Thanks for any pointers/direction. Let me know if I left out any other information you might need from me.

Hi,

The pressure switches are not supported at this moment.

You can read and decode them with the project tree, but you shouldn’t assign that to the gear position. The strategy will work without them. The switches are normally used for diagnostics and adaptations.

Understood. I’ll feed them to the ecu for monitoring, but not use them to feed gear position.

It looks like line pressure control is open loop?
Basically, assume everything is open loop for 4L80 transmission control (for the moment)?

Yes, every control is open loop.

We have plans to add closed-loop pressure control.

One last question,
Manual control is possibly in the future too?

I’ll use the strategy as-is and get my head wrapped around it - contact me if there is anything I can do to help, or get onto a beta list for future enhancements! I’m still a few months away from finishing up, so no hurry.

Yes, manual shifting is also on the to-do list.
It’s possible now with custom configuration, but we will add native support.
