I have made this work, but it feels a bit convoluted and I want to make sure that I haven’t missed something.
I have a Varex muffler which I want to open and close based on the “mode” that the car is in (Subaru with SI Drive). The Varex only has two wires and with the module it come with uses timed relays to swap the 12V direction.
As this seemed like a perfect use for an H-bridge I have it wired up to H-bridge 3. I initially tried to set it up using the Custom DC Motor channel, but I couldn’t fin a way to get the valve to function in both directions. I was hoping that it might be possible to have the H-bridge see the current increase when the valve is fully open or closed and turn off the output, but it seems that without a dedicated position sensor using the DC output won’t work.
With this not working for me I instead set up two custom outputs and set up timers that ended after 1 second. Using the “timer/running” channel I am able to have the timer active for 1 second when the drive mode changes allowing the valve to open and close as needed. I have attached a picture of how I have the output settings.
I mostly just want to check if this is the best way to do this with the setup I have and possibly help if someone else is trying to do the same.
