MK V R32 / BUB Exhaust Cam Variator Calibration

The later R32 style engines (BUB/CBRA, etc.) with the 022 109 101E exhaust cam use a fully advanced exhaust VVT at the default position?

My question is: Is the default position the exhaust cam lobe centerline of 109 degrees for the OEM cam or is the default position something other then the exhaust cam centerline? If the default VVT position is the exhaust cam centerline position then the cam can only be retarded from the 109 degree position which is rather odd exhaust cam timing as it’s quite late.

I have searched here and elsewhere for this info. with no success.

Can someone from ECU Masters advise if the R32 “BUB” base map for the PnP Black ECU is from actual dyno testing by ECU Masters or if the camshaft mapping is just a transfer of data from the OEM ECU to the ECU Black PnP?
