More than 16 analog inputs for 1970 Mustang restoration

Hi everyone :waving_hand: ,

I’m restoring a 1970 Mustang :racing_car: and want to replace the entire (unreliable) electrical system with a single PMU while keeping the original switches. I count 20 switch states (key ignition, headlamp, turn signals, horn, … excluding sensors). As far as I know both PMU16 and PMU24 offer only 16 inputs that I could use.

What’s the recommended approach to connect additional switches?

Thanks for any guidance on proven setups. :folded_hands:

You can connect multiple switches to an analog input using a series of resistors. ECUMaster make a “mux switch” part that allows wiring 3 switches to a single input.

Alternatively, you could use a CAN device with additional inputs, like the CAN Switch Board.

:+1: That is so simple and effective! I like it. Thanks for the quick reply.

I would use a CAN Switchboard to wire most of the switches. Mount it as near as possible of the switches and go to the PDM only the CAN wires.
