What are possible issues for log files to not record correctly to USB? Log start is set as a condition to begin when the engine sees 3000 rpm with a 30 second off delay. It’s a road race car and it’s ran for several seasons with no issues. For no apparent reason now, the log will start and then abruptly stop after a minute or so. We’ll then get sporadic bursts of logs of only a few kb during the rest of the session.
I had a similar issue with an ADU a few years ago when the owner swapped non-resistor spark plugs into the engine without my knowing. Replaced the plugs with resistor plugs and the issue was solved. That’s not an issue here. I’ve looked for other sources of noise, including replacing the alternator with a new unit, and can’t come up with anything.
Are there any common issues that I should look for? Again, it’s a setup that’s worked fine for 2 full seasons until now.
I Also get usb log issues once in a blue moon.
It logs, fails and restarts every 10 seconds maybe
There’s a dashboard usb log status and I’m recording everything while the engine is above 400rpm so It’s easy to notice.
I use sandisk 16gb and it’s in the cabin with no vibration stress or moisture issues.
Could be the 1.5m extension to the cabin (midengine car, ecu at the back). I’ll try ferrite beads over the cable someday.
It’s quite rare - maybe once a month.
Just cycling the power makes it go away. Reconnecting the Stick manually - doesn’t.
I should add I’ve tried multiple USB drives with the same result.
One thing you can try for diagnosis is to log the data to the laptop while the flash drive is connected.
You will be able to see the USB connection status and how it changes.
How is your USB socket mounted? Maybe it’s a mechanical problem with the socket losing connection after two years of vibrations?
