Base map check, no starting

hi all,

could use a little guidance on my new ecu master black base map. Car is a bmw m52b28 on itb’s and slightly more aggressive cams.

situation is ive wired up ecu master black with alpha n strategy and sequential setup. but for the likfe of me i can not get the thing to fire up, ive altered rising/falling settings and my timing strobe seems a mile off. is there some way one of you very kind chaps could take a look at my map to check ive not made a schoolboy error somewhere?

any pointers much qppreciated!

what crank sensor is being used ? these engines usually have bosch ecu with magnetic or Siemens ecu with Hall type sensors fitted.

The camshaft sensors are usually hall type.

Your ignition outputs should be in cylinder order 1,2,3,4,5,6 not per firing order.

Firing order is correct.

Also check your first trigger tooth and trigger angle.

Hi there,

So originally it was on the Siemens ms41 ecu, and yes both crank and cam sensors are hall.

I switched out the cam sensor for a oe m54 cam hall sensor as I believe the original ones don’t work with aftermarket ecus.

On the scope should I not be seeing more cam activity?

Apologies for the noob questions…. Learning curve for me

ok, so ive adjusted a coulpe of things, cheifly the injectors which i know bears no impact on the cranking.

withing my timing light setup, i can see the mark on the pulley is about 110 degrees clockwise from where it should be. no matter what igntion i enter into the ecu it wont move much…. can someone see if ive made a gross error on my map somewhere….. firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4

check secondary trigger. possibly should be N+1.

thinking the answer should be to adjust the 1st trigger tooth and/or trigger angle. this to get the timing light correlating to crank pulley marking. before anything the most important thing is having the ecu and crank sensor synchronised properly. switch off or disconnect the fuel injectors when doing this and have a fully charged battery.

It seems when I attempt to change trigger angle the mark on the pulleys remains the same position under the timing strobe. No matter how much I change ignition it won’t alter it on the pulley

Ok so bit of an update, I’m still no closer to setting base timing.

I’ve ended up essentially going back a step and using the v2 software instead of the v3. Just because I wanted to alter ignition offset as it appears I’m about 120 degrees out. However I get nothing at all now when using v2, no rpm or crank signal….. any pointers chaps?

For info does the Hall effect crank sensor feed need 5 or 12v?
