CAN Board V3 Low Side Outputs

I’m in the process of designing a new steering wheel to incorporate all the required buttons etc. using the CAN board V3 to control everything

It would look really nice with an ADU 5 in the middle of the wheel, but didn’t want to buy one and strip it down for parts. Maybe For Version 2!!

Is it possible to use the Low side outputs as switch to ground inputs also?
Or are they mostly intended to drive low power LEDs? This could also look good, as a strip across the top of my switch cluster for warning lights etc.

those outputs are designed for using led’s that was main purpose.

You have 4 unused analog inputs in your project. You can use them as switch-to-ground inputs.
You need to activate the Pullup option in the software.

We now have a wireless kit for this exact purpose.
If you are interested you can check it on the website.
And here is a manual:

I already have those additional 4 analogue outputs used. 2 will be used for paddle shift inputs on the back, and 2 additional button on the front.

I have seen this before, but buying it isn’t as fun as making it myself

I’m not sure if this is available in Australia yet, haven’t seen it for sale down here to date.

I meant we have a wireless “CAN switchboard” kit.

You still build your own panel, but use a wireless instead of a wired CAN switchboard.

To check if it’s available in your region, ask the distributor.
For Australia, it’s RHD Engineering.

Thanks for the update,
I did not know that this was available as a stand alone board.
I will keep it in mind for future projects.

Now if you ever want to offer a bare bones ADU 5, with no case and rear connector for integration into a wheel, please let me know.

A Quick mock up with integrated ADU 5
The wheel profile needs some work, but it has potential.
