Edl1 logger problem

Hello,

I have a problem with the EDL1 logger.

I updated the Emublack to firmware version 3.056, then updated the edl1 to firmware version 1.21 using a lexar 633x 64GB SD card. After this update, the lexar card stopped working with the edl1 running firmware 1.21.
However, when I downgraded the firmware to version 1.12, the card worked again.Decided not to bother with this card and switched to a transcend sd card. The problem started after this change.

When I turn the key on with the sd card inserted into the edl1, the device doesn’t start the LEDs stay dark. If i remove the sd card, the edl1 starts without any problem. After booting, if i insert the sd card, it begins recording log data without issues.

I connected scope to the Emublack 5V output (pin b26) during startup. With the SD card inserted, the voltage drops to 2.1V, then rises to 2.6V and stays there. I repeated the test without the SD card: the voltage drops to 4.4V and returns to 5V. With the Lexar SD card, the voltage drops to 3.9V and goes back up to 5V.
I also tested with a sandisk sd card the voltage drops to 3.1V and sometimes fails to start; occasionally, it does start with this voltage.

This 5v rail powers the pedal position Sensor, bosch oil temp/pressure sensor, and the edl1.

I want to understand am I overloading the Emublack 5V output with sensors and edl1?

I haven’t had any issues with the EDL1, but that might be because I’ve connected it to a 12v power, perhaps the power draw is indeed too high for the ecu to handle.

I will switch to ignition 12v for power source. Did you use sensor ground or ecu ground ?

I used ecu ground, don’t know if it’s required but I like to keep my 12v grounds away from my 5v grounds
