EMU black & DQ250 gear selector

Hello guys, 2 questions. I’m using an EMU black & PMU16 in a mid engined car with a 1.8t BAM engine & a DQ250 gearbox.

I have non-OEM paddle shifters (and an OEM VW 025S gear selector if needed).

Questions are:

  1. (Ideal scenario) Is it possible to emulate the gear selector via only the paddles, since I don’t want to waste a ton of keypad keys just for that and I’d prefer to not use the OEM gear selector.
    If so, how do I set it up?

  2. If 1. isn’t possible, can I simply wire the OEM gear selector via CAN and NOT use the physical linkage that goes to the gearbox at all (it’s basically impossible to attach in my case). Will it work fine?

Just to clarify, it’s a racecar, so I don’t need anything else except neutral and manual mode. Don’t need park whatsoever.
