Hello All,
im looking for some help as I am abit confused when it comes to setting up the engine timing, I may just be over thinking the wording. I am trying to configure an EMU black to work on a smart roadster.
Being a 3 cylinder engine wasted spark wasnt an option and by default these engines do not have a cam sensor. After some hassle I have managed to place a hall sensor facing the CAM chan sprocket and through some work on the arduino I am now able to get a pulse for TDC as can be seen below (the arduino is required as i actually recieve 9 pulses but 2 are very close together and this si what signifies TDC).
When compared to the 60-2 crank sprocket it can be seen that TDC is on the 15th tooth (so 90º) after the first tooth. So I thought it would be as simple as setting tooth 5 and then saying its 60º as the trigger angle?
But upon reading the setup instructions for configuring engine timing it says “The First Trigger Tooth setting determines which signal after the secondary trigger” so does that mean tooth 1 is the first after my secondary signal (16th after the missing teeth)?
If its the first scenario thats great everything should align nice, if its the 2nd option i can get around this with further programing of the arduino but it will take abit more work. I know i could try and get to the solution by trying to run the engine but currently to fit a cam sensor most of the auxilary items have been removed
Thanks
