Hi everyone,
I’m currently planning an engine management upgrade for my 1982 Ford Capri Mk3, which is fitted with a Ford Scorpio Cosworth 2.9 V6 24V (BOB) engine.
The engine currently runs on a MegaSquirt ECU with Ford EDIS6 ignition, and I’m planning to replace this setup with an ECUMaster EMU Black, incorporating sequential fuel injection and individual coil-on-plug ignition.
I’ve already purchased the EMU Black and six Bosch smart ignition coils, which have been successfully test-fitted to the engine.
I’m currently documenting the existing engine sensors, wiring and ancillary systems before progressing with the new wiring loom.
I’d particularly like to hear from anyone who has installed an EMU Black on this engine, or has experience configuring one for the Ford Cosworth 24V V6.
Some of the areas I’m investigating include:
-
Crank and cam sensor compatibility and trigger configuration.
-
Sequential injection and ignition setup.
-
Idle air control valve configuration.
-
Variable Inlet System (VIS) operation.
-
Existing sensor compatibility and any recommended replacements.
-
Knock sensor installation and configuration.
Does anyone have a suitable base map or example EMU Black configuration for the naturally aspirated BOB engine? Even a partially configured project would be a useful starting point.
My intention is to prepare and build as much of the wiring loom as practical myself, before having a specialist complete the installation, commissioning and mapping.
I’d be very interested to hear from anyone who has undertaken a similar conversion, particularly any lessons learned or potential pitfalls.
Many thanks in advance for any advice or information.
