GPS Data not saving to PMU24DL

I’ve just used my PMU24DL for the first time, it’s connected with the GPS2CAN v2. When I look at the logged data had the wrong date stamp, I assumed this would come from GPS?? Do I need to ass the CAN from the GPS to the PMU24DL?

Hi,
Is the “wrong date stamp” referring to the log file name?

The date and time are taken from the built-in RTC.
There is currently no option to update the RTC with GPS data.
You have to manually update the RTC in PMU from the “Tools” menu in the client software when connected to the device.

The problem with the GPS time is that it’s UTC.
You would have to set the time zone offset to get the local time.

We discussed this, and we have an idea for the future. We could add an option to set the time zone offset, like you currently set the RTC, and select if you want to update the internal RTC with the GPS time.

Great thanks for clearing that up.

Should the PMU24DL automatically log data from the GPS2CAN v2, or do I need to add sand canx/dbc file?

Also I assume that anything I want to log from the ADU I’ll need to export as CAN, then import as CANon the PMU?

To log GPS data in PMU, you must import that CAN data. However, the issue is that PMU cannot receive 32-bit channels over CAN, so the position coordinates can’t be logged. You can log any other data.

You can export the DBC/CANX file for the GPS module from the Light Client and import it into the PMU project tree.

Since you mentioned you have an ADU, I recommend logging into the USB drive. You can still log with PMU in parallel, but the ADU logger will save the complete GPS data. You can easily import most of the data from PMU to ADU, and you will have much more memory. You can swap between two drives when you need fast pit stops, and the pit crew wants to look at the logs.

Thanks for the info, I’ll try to log to USB via the ADU.

That is a bit limiting of the PMU, I wasn’t aware of that
