Having trouble starting an engine using EMU Black

I am trying to start a Yamaha YZF-R6 engine with an EMU Black for the first time.
At the moment, the engine setup is very minimal: only the engine itself, throttle bodies, ignition coils, and spark plugs are connected. Components such as the exhaust manifold and CLT sensor are not installed yet. The CLT value is currently fixed at 80°C, and the MAP value is fixed at 100 kPa. All temperature-related corrections and compensations are disabled.

During cranking, the log shows that RPM is detected correctly, and the trigger sync status becomes “Synchronized.”
However, it seems that cam sync is not working properly.

In addition, fuel injection does not seem to occur during cranking.
Even when I configure the engine to run in wasted spark mode due to the cam signal issue, injector operation happens only very rarely. When injection does occur, I sometimes see flames coming out of the exhaust ports, or air flowing back through the throttle bodies.

I would appreciate any help or guidance on what could be causing this issue.

Happy New Year, and thank you in advance for your help.

Bike engines are often a more difficult to syn as engine speed varies a lot throughout the 720dg engine cycle (high compression, low crankshaft inertia and a small starter motor/battery).

Please attach a log file of a start, as well as your project.

Also try the trigger scope, preferably with and without spark plugs in the engine, and attach a log of that as well.

Have you verified if the spark plugs are firing, and if the timing is aligned with the engine timing marks (strobe light). Its best to remove the spark plugs for this test to reduce rpm fluctuations. There is an option in the EMU to lock the ignition advance for these type of tests.

I found that the “Cranking threshold” should be set to 800rpm for my 955cc bike engine to make sure it remains in status cranking until the engine is really picking up speed. Cranking ignition angle is set to 0dg on my bike, seems to work better than 10dg advance.
