Im using Emu Black, client Version 2.175 in a 3.8L Porsche 911.
Everything is dialed in, the car is smooth with lots of power. But lately, i have an issue at about 6500 RPM. When accelerating through the revband, there is a short dropout at 6500 RPM, then the engine carries on until the rev-limiter sets in.
It happens about every second time, not always. I suspected my short dwell-time of 2 ms to be the culprit, but it was not. Nothing changes with 3ms as advised by manufacturer.
Nothing is visible in the log, no sync problem, no rev-limiter problem, simply nothing.
I now suspect my primary trigger setup to be faulty.
Maybe someone can help.
My settings:
I used these settings on a 3.8 993 turbo without any issues to 7100rpm . With weaker pulldown the engine wouldnt run at all in my case
Thanks a lot. I will try on this basis.
I must admit that my trigger setup was guesswork at the time. The engine ran well, i did not touch the setup anymore for 2 years.
Strange that the dropout lasts about 9mS, which is about the time for one revolution. This is why i suspect a trigger issue.
Are you using the OEM Porsche sensor ?
Mike
Yes using oem trigger without issues on multiple aircooled porsches. Im guessing you have a trigger kit because of the 36-1 , usually trigger kits are with hall sensors, im suprised yours is a vr.
Yes, it is a aftermarket 36-1 wheel, im combination with original VR sensor.
Reason is, that my flywheel does not have an Ecumaster supported tooth pattern. Engine is originally a 964, but with 3.8L cylinders.

I made a couple of tests today, though i did not have the time for a test ride yet.
There are some significant differences to baxtercrafters setup.
My car starts and idles with any pullup or pulldown configuration. Also, at the time i chose 5 dgrees next edge rejection angle, which could be a bit close to the angle of the 36-1 wheel.
I do suspect the problem here.
I would appreciate any information on this next edge rejection angle setting regarding a 36-1 trigger wheel with a VR-sensor.

The problem seems to solved. I used 4k7 pullu. at the time. As baxtercrafter wrote that his engine would not run unless he applied a strong pulldown, i changed to “none”.
Since then the car runs fine.
