Issues with version compatibilities?

Hi, Long Story: I have a Joying head unit running Android 12 in my car. I have used the old emudash apps for many years and was excited to try the new edash app. Joined the beta testers, updated firmware on the EDL-1 and emu Classic, and downloaded the first version of edash onto the head unit, it had all sorts of issues, nothing worked at all really, I decided I would wait for the next version, I saw some other people had posted about similar experiences. The next version came out and the Google play store told me that it was not compatible with my device. So I thought I would just continue using the old emudash app, but now it had a massive delay.
So I downgraded the firmware on the EDL-1 and the Classic ecu, hoping to get back to normal usage of the emudash app.
I have tried all available EDL firmwares (back to 1.08, I would have tried earlier versions but I cannot find them), and I have tried Classic firmwares 1.218 and 1.200 (1.200 was running in my car for many years).

Nothing has worked. I’ve tried loads of combinations, I either get no information on the emudash app, or a massive delay.

What do I do now? Which firmware combo should I try? Are there older EDL firmwares than 1.08?
Is there something else that I am missing, eg bluetooth protocol issue somewhere?

Best solution would be to use latest of everything and get Edash working, this might be impossible on my device, the second best option would be to get the old emudash operating as it used to.
Please help, I have no gauges now :frowning:

The Joying head units are normally pretty good, but a lot of head units fake the Android version displayed. One way to tell is to download an app called AIDA64 or an app called CPU-Z to read the system data. Take note of the API level/version. While these manufacturers can show a fake android version, what they can’t fake is the API level. The following link details which API belongs with which Android version - https://apilevels.com/

Perhaps this will help you at least work out what you actually have, rather than what version the Head Unit is telling you you have. As it’s a Joying head unit, you may actually be able to upgrade it, depending on the chipset it’s using. I have the same issue with my head unit, which isn’t a Joying model, so I’ve done a fair amount of research on the topic. :slight_smile:

looks like it is proper android 12? There might be an option to update to 13 on the joying website, but it seems fairly involved.
