Log file size limited to 36,864

I have “Create new log every” set to 60, but my Log files all max out at 36,864kb and are only about 27 minutes.

This creates some weird data when the file ends and restarts it loses several seconds of data and makes it a bit harder to track the data that is happening in regards to actual pit stops, etc.

Ideally I’d really want to run a longer/larger file that saves/resets when we do a driver change. We have to shut the engine of (not main power) so we could use engine stop or something as the save trigger.

Is there a way to do this?

Bringing this issue back to the top. We just finished a 14 Hour enduro at Daytona and trying to look through data and finding it more challenging than I would like due to this limitation.

All my file sizes seem to be capped at 36,864, which is only about 9, maybe 10 laps. I end up loosing a lot of lap data with so many file breaks.

I’ve set it to create a new file every 60 minutes, but that doesn’t seem to work.

Hi,

Could you share these logs with us? We will check them.

DMed a link to google drive.

Thank you for sharing your logs.
What brand of USB flash drive have you used?

https://www.verbatim.com/en/everyday-usb-drives/products/70000-16gb-toughmax-usb-flash-drive

Could you try logging data from the ADU to a different USB drive?
We are not able to provide a quick solution for the issue you are experiencing, as we cannot reproduce it on our side.
Trying another USB drive could be a possible workaround, but it would be best if you could confirm that it works before the next race.

Normally, using full log bandwidth, one hour of logging consumes around 85 MB.

sidenote, i have logs, what are over 70MB, so i don’t think it’s a sw limitation.
I had issue, when it was restarted logging, but it was due to cable/signal error. It would do it randomly, not at a fixed filesize.
Currently the issue went away, but I will need to update the wiring, to hopefully make this issue go away for good.

Do you have a favorite USB card? I went with this USB stick for robustness at the track.

We usually use SanDisk flash drives without any issues. Personally, I mostly use this particular SanDisk model and have never experienced any problems.

We have ordered the same flash drive model that you are using to check if we can reproduce the issue you observed.

another one working extremely well is integral customers have many season of racing on them and working perfectly fine

great, thanks. I ordered one.
With this pendrive is there internal connection between ground and shield?

It’s fully plastic, so the shield is definitely not connected to ground internally.
