Hello everyone, I’m having trouble getting my 2JZGE-T started and I’m pretty sure the problem is with my trigger settings settings. I’m getting a signal from my coils with the timing light and I’m able to adjust the dizzy to match the timing with the EMU, however I noticed on my log that I’m getting a reading for the RPMs but nothing is happening on the ignition angle. Also for some reason I can’t get the scope tool to work while I’m trying to crank the motor. I’ve tried to get the scope data, but I never see anything from the log moving when I press to collect the data as per the user’s manual.
I almost have my project alive!
I’d appreciate any advice.

Hello,
please attach a project file, it would be easier to identify a problem.
If you can’t collect the scope, EMU doesn’t receive primary trigger sensor signal. Check the sensor, wiring and configuration of primary trigger: sensor type, pullup if needed.
I was trying to upload my file, but since I’m a new user, it won’t let me.
I’m going to check my wiring and get back to you, but my question is: if the EMU doesn’t see the primary trigger, then how come I’m getting an RPM reading? Isn’t it dependent on the primary trigger?
I doubled checked my wiring, everything was testing out ok. I was finally able to get the scope to show up when I enabled the pullup option for the primary and secondary trigger.
The scope pattern was exactly how I wanted it to look like for my dizzy. Now I’ll reset the timing and try to fire it up!
I got my timing to set to match the EMU. The scope looks good still with no sync errors.
However, I’m not sure if I have my injector phase and ignition outputs setup correctly as the engine is still not starting.
I’m trying to run the engine full sequential, however I’m not understanding the example from the user manual. Is the order of the ignition event/injector phase in relation to the order of the cylinders?
For example I have my setup:
ignition event 1 - ignition output 1
ignition event 2 - ignition output 5
ignition event 3 - ignition output 3
ignition event 4 - ignition output 6
ignition event 5 - ignition output 2
ignition event 6 - ignition output 4
I have the same configuration setup for the injector phase as well
Hi, I just want to ask why the triggger settings are all over the place in the base maps. I have a 36 - 2 trigger. Could someone please guide me to the correct settings for the first trigger tooth and trigger angle
Your number of cylinders is set to 4, i doubt you require a pulldown resistor. I have been trying to get by head around the first tooth trigger and trigger angle setting myself. Currently try setting them at 17 and 63 degrees and see if it starts.
Enable the injectors, stup your ignition outputs under coils and you should be able to get the engine to fire up at the least
Are you sure you opened the right file? Because I have my cylinders set to 6. I’m using the settings from the 2jzge distributor base map that was provided by ecumaster.
I’ve triple checked all my outputs, I’ve tested every single coil and injector to make sure they’re working on their assigned cylinders. I have a consistent flash on my timing light and it’s matched with the emu, but the car doesn’t even try to start. I know I’m getting fuel, because when I pull a plug, the cylinders are wet. I’ve also visually checked for spark and it looks good.
I think my issue is with the timing of the injector phase and ignition outputs in relation to the firing order, but I’m not sure.
I double checked my timing and tried to start the engine with this configuration file, however the car didn’t even try to start. All I get is pops and bangs out of the exhaust, so I speculate something is way off, still.
Are you using emu built-in map sensor or an external one?
Are you using external WBO controller or your oxygen sensor is direct connect to emu?
Are you trying to start your engine with the pull-up option enabled or disabled for the primary and secondary triggers?
Yes, I’m using the built in map sensor on the emu.
I am using the AEM x-series wideband with the external controller, however I do have analog output wired up to the emu.
I have now disabled the pull-up option for both triggers. The scope still looks good and I’m getting a consistent flash on the timing light.
The tuner explained that the configuration is set this way due to the position of the cam sensor. my 2JZ distributor has two VR sensors to choose from for the camshaft position. Is this because I’m using one of the sensors that’s behind the crank sensor on the dizzy? I’m trying to understand why this is working the way it is.
