Hello, recently VAG (Audi) 8HP gained immo off in flash for all versions (neurosuite) and I wonder if I can use Black/Pro for engine side CAN-Bus stream.
Afaik it (al551) is working with med9.1.1 just fine, and I have done in past dq250 swaps (made damos for cxx and done many diffrent vw trany swaps like 01M or 5hp19) and they all work on any '96-'09 can bus equipped ecu’s (msa/edc15-16 generations).
So with ability of Black/Pro to control dq250 (both MQB and older Cxx-Fxx mechatronics) and 6hp19 beta support, wouldn’t AL551 (audi 8hp55) in theory without immo just work?
I have already ordered oem shifter and I am willing to hook it up on bench with some sort of electric motor (0.8k-1.5k input rpm) if I can get some sort of feedback if it is worth a try.
A8 D4 “MXR” (prob. also shj, ncj) al551 8hp55 are nowdays like 350-600€ for fully working unit and are can-bus shifted, and A6 C7 (4G) “NEU” (prob. also nxt, nnt) al551 8hp55 are cable shifted are too 350€ and up. (PL and neighbouring countries). They also bolt-up nicely to any vw 4-6-8cyl Inline/V engine so coming up with recipe for VW engine + VW 8hp would be worth for both drag racing and drifting customers. (I daily welded 01e so awd->rwd is not a big deal in my eyes, nothing that welder or some sort of fixture in 8hp55a couldn’t fix)
It’s tough to tell if it will work in any capacity.
We now have pretty detailed implementation of VAG CAN streams for PQ35 and MQB platforms. It’s based on CAN stream descriptions and working with stock cars (A3 and Leon Cupra).
However, 8HP is in longitudinal platforms (MLB), and from what I know, the streams for those platforms differ from those for the transverse platforms.
We have a description for the MLB CAN stream, but it has not been implemented yet because we don’t have a stock car to test it. We are 100% interested in running 8HP with our ECUs, so if you are willing to help us do that, we are down.
EMU PRO will be much better for a development task like that. It’s more advanced and way more flexible than Black. We also have better possibilities for making changes to the software.
We have a working Camaro with an 8L transmission, which is a GM box based on 8HP.
The next step is to tune our BMW with the B48 engine and create support for 8HP45.
We are also researching how we can support different generations of boxes.
This can’t come soon enough in my opinion so I hope it goes smoothly for you all.
I have had a lot of customers asking about BMW 8HP conversions but given the current situation they are wanting to use an alternate ECU (ends with X, you know the one) but I like to stick to ECUmaster as the ADU and PMU’s are so excellent and it saves mixing and matching…
Hello, any progress on the 8hp or any help needed? Im an automation & Controls / Software Engineer. Im getting ready to do a B48 swap on a track car and im determining now if im going to keep the 8hp or do a manual swap.
If you’re going to stick with the 8hp transmission, and use it with a standalone system, then you only option for controlling it with EcuMaster; would CANTCU by CanFormance. I should note that Emu Pro in this case wouldn’t control the transmission, but rather handle the cuts and blips requested by the controller when shifting. They have support for both Black and Emu Pro.
Yes that’s why I’m asking if there’s any progress on the emu pro controlling it. I already have a car with cantcu and I’ve helped a friend with maxx but I’d prefer to stick with ecumaster.
The only way you could help us is by providing CAN bus data descriptions (for example, DBC files) used for 8HP communication. Or any information about reading and writing gearbox calibration and firmware. One thing we definitely need is an easy way to remove immo.
