Aux pwm Hz lower limit?

Hi all,

Im currently sending my speedometer pwm signal from aux 9 in my 1999 toyota supra.
When im driving the speedo needle does nothing until above 40kmh, I have checked the speedo, even replaced its capacitors as these are a know issue with these speedo’s, but all is well with the gauge itself.

During some testing today I found that the lowest freq the testing mode of the speedo would allow me to go to was 20hz. My freq/speed ratio is 0,43 so 20hz works out to 46,5kmh, awfully close to when my speedo needle suddenly wakes up when im driving the car.

Is there a minimal Hz threshold of 20Hz active for the aux channels? I feel like it doesnt send out a signal until the 20Hz is reached at roughly 45kmh and that because of that my needle suddenly wakes up.

Hi,
Yes, the auxiliary outputs have a lower frequency limit of 16 Hz.
We have plans to change that.

In your case, a 1-2 Hz lower limit will be enough, right?

I reply to this as I also still need the lower HZ limit for my brake flasher logic.
1-2Hz is low enough for my case.

Ah that explains so much!

Yes 1-2hz would be great! I have an upcoming inspection for roadworthiness and it wont pass because it only starts reading from 40-45kmh now.

If 2hz would be the lower limit it would start reading from around 5-10kmh and thats absolutely fine.
