Built in MAP issue

Hello,
My sons car died on the way to work this morning. When I got there and connected my laptop to the ECU Master Classic it shows a MAP value of 417 kPa.
The car, an audi A3 1.8T, started struggeling and when he lifted of the throttle it died. Now it tuns over and starts for about a second before it dies again. Since the build in MAP-sensor is showing 417 kPa all I can think of is that the MAP sensor in the ECU is fried.

Any thoughs on how to fix this? Can the MAP in the ECU be fixed? Is there an easy fix with an external MAP sensor?

map sensor can be replaced. zplease checknifbthere is an oil or other fluid in the map sensor line.

Also you can use external MAP if you have free analog input.

Unplug map hose from ecu side and let it be still for a while, then check the readings again. If it´s still 400 you have sensor fault.
You can use an external MAP sensor, in case of internal is defected, like Jadzwin said.

Thanks guys,

The built in seems to be defective. Even when unplugged for a while it still showed over 400 kPa.

Last night we replaced the built in sensor with an external one and the car works fine now. I think it even might have fixed bad cold start which we had been struggeling with this whole winter. It just seems to be easier starting now and idling smoother. Maybe the built in sensor has been bad for a while but not completely broken.
