Default SPEED, LONG_G, LAT_G seems unassigned

I try to use DATA MASTER for the first time. The track (Ljungbyhed / Sweden) doesn’t exist in the library. “Automatically generate reference track” is ticked in under options, but no track is generated. Trying to execute “Reference track wizard” generates an error message that one full lap must exist (There are 12). Trying the “GPS Start point editor” generates an error message saying that it needs the channel alias. So, I can clearly see that all ECU data are in place and obviously also the GPS position, while Speed and G-forces are missing in the “Overview” and “Grip” panels, I also opened the Maths channel and see that the predefined (default) alias’es SPEED, LONG_G and LAT_G are defined as “Evaluates to “ - i.e. empty. Other alias’es are defined as evaluates to something.

I haven’t managed to resolve the problem, hence writing here. How do I do to resolve the problem?

Hi,

If the default aliases are unresolved, it means that the channels assigned to them do not contain any data. Each alias (e.g. @SPEED, @LAT_G, @LONG_G) can have up to two custom channels assigned.

To fix this, you’ll need to:

  1. Open the Alias Editor.
  2. Edit the default aliases one by one.
  3. Assign them to the custom channels in your log that actually contain the correct data – for example:
  • @SPEED → channel with vehicle speed
  • @LAT_G / @LONG_G → channels with lateral and longitudinal acceleration

Once the aliases are correctly assigned, the Overview and Grip panels will display data, and you will be able to generate a reference track.

Thanks! Vehicle speed is sorted out, but I realised that accelerometer and gyrsocope source data had not been set in the ECU and hence hadn’t been retrieved from “ECUMASTER GPS TO CAN”.

If I understand it correctly, I need to generate a new datalog with these data sources assigned? I cannot get it from the log as is, right?

Good to here, you were able to sort it out.

Unfortunately, if you didn’t set the GPS to CAN in the ECU, then there is no data in the log. So as you wrote, you’ll have to make a new log.

GPS to CAN was set up correctly (?) and I had a go on the track two weeks later. The track was beautifully plotted in Data Master, but still G’s etc aren’t plotted and I see that despite IMU is allocated to “GPS to CAN” it generates “?” on all parameters. I have studied the manuals and tried change different settings that may be related - but NO progress. What am I missing?

Solved. I must have mixed up the versions, or missed to save since it did not send values on the mentioned channels.
