been struggling with getting my stock/ish 94’ Chaser with 1JZ-GTE nonVVTI to run correctly with the base injector/ignition events. The only change that was done to this engine is 650cc injectors and the fuel pump is directly wired to a relay so the fuel pump output is inverted to supply ground. the issue im having is any thottle input will kill the engine no matter how much the TPS vs. MAP correction table is changed. The ignition-coil dwell time was calculated using AI for stock coils on this motor along with the injector cal was also AI generated for the current 650cc injectors that are installed.
Ive adjusted the timing with a timing light on Cylinder 1 and the trigger angle was necessary to change to 38 from 66 degrees.
this engine runs on a bank fire set up and im not sure why the basemap off the ECUmaster basemap/download web page has the firing order ignition events in order 5,3,6,2,4,1 & injecton phase 1-ign event 6, 2-ign event 4, 3-ign event 2. when the OE firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4.
Ive tried moving the firing order to stock order but it wont run on that setup (maybe because I didnt have the injector phase correct or due to the cam sync#1 pin being wired to cam sensor #2 through the adapter harness from ECUmaster. Ill add the wiring diagram of the adapter harness and OE diagram to this post. If anyone has any input im willing to try anything (cannot upload tune file with log data, not allowed on forum)
I found this issue of throttle input causing the engine to stall due to the inverted output checkbox selected in “outputs - Fuel pump”. due to this being selected I noticed when key on engine off the fuel pump would run constantly until engine was running and then fuel pump relay would be supplied with 5v instead of supplied Ground. when “invert output” is not selected Fuel pump will prime when key is turned on for selected amount of “after start activity” then turns off until engine running condition.
that takes care of the stalling with throttle input, now that I have fuel pressure during idle state I’m getting very rich fueling, removed a injector to inspect for a part number and identify injector size is correct, found PN 23250-46020 (380cc Toyota injector) adjusted injector cal and Fueling - General to match with correct injector size. Now running much better but VE/IGN table have to be tuned yet
