Looking for some assistance with my current build. I’m attempting to start my 1JZ-GTE VVTi after converting to EMU Black but have so far been unsuccessful. I used the non-PNP base map from ECU Master and modified to suit my build. So far things I have completed/confirmed:
- Fuel Pressure and Injector firing
- Injector cal
- Ignition coil firing correctly
- Base Timing (w/ timing light)
- DBW tuned
Engine is close to firing, and will catch and move to “Afer Start” status, but never stays running. I’ve played around with fueling and ignition timing but no real improvement.
I’m new to the forum so cannot upload my tune or a log. If anyone has a suggestion on how to share this that would be great!
Hello and welcome
U can use google drive to upload and share.
Forget ignition…main thing for afterstart is air and fueling. Without knowing ur stuf i would say u have too less air or something strange in ur idle setting.
Hello! Thanks for the quick response. I’ve uploaded my tune and log to the folder linked below.
Appreciate the pointer. I’ll ignore ignition timing for now and play around with fueling. I’m running DBW and using this for idle. I also tried disabling the idle function completely which didn’t seem to make much of a difference. Any suggestions for how my idle settings should look?
Sorry to ask such a dumb question but i am struggling for my life here. My car is cranking but, no start with no spark. I am trying to test my ignition coils. Everywhere i’ve looked (I’ve searched so many ways and nothing shows that explains clearly.) how to test them.
My ignition coils are located under the valve cover connected to the spark plugs correct ?
Again, apologies for the dumb question.
Ur throttle is fully closed all the time…also u have no idle valve configured. Short…ur engine doesnt get air.
Set idle valve as DBW then set a useful crankingvalue…anything else u do with idle dc ref table.
But strangly ur MAP value looks good….anyhow…u should fix that first.
I originally had idle by DBW enabled but was getting the same result. I’ve tried playing around with “DC during cranking” value but it didn’t actually seem to result in much of a change in the throttle position during cranking. I would have expected a value of 70% to basically fully open the throttle. Unless I am misunderstanding how this parameter works. I uploaded a new log and a new tune file.
That looks definitly better…i would decrease air a bit…but this is not ur problem.
I can see trigger errors during cranking:
Maybe on a scope the issue can be seen…or u can play with trigger settings or check sensor.
I would try to set pulldown for ur vr sensor.
