Hi, I’m trying to input paddle shift in emu but I have a question about paddle up solenoid out what does it mean? and Do I have to option it?

I’m using a pingel electronic solenoid, and I’m going to control the electronic solenoid with paddle shift. Then, should I not only input it, but also set the paddle up solenoid out? Then, is it correct to connect the paddle shift using pull-up resistance? Or can I use the internal pull-up resistance?
