Trigger, Fuel, Cranking 1.8t AGU

Hello again,

Infos:

  • 1.8t AGU from 1997
  • Version 3.024
  • Changed to DBW and LSU 4.2
  • Ran well on the old ECU and started once or twice quite bad on EMUBlack V2.
  • I don’t have a VE map nor Ignition map yet.

What’s happening:
During cranking the engine gives me a little brap brap and that’s it.

Furthermore I have following:

  1. I don’t know how to find out the trigger stuff. There is different infos on the internet and they don’t work and the logic one i found didn’t bring me further either. If I put VR sensor then I don’t get any signal anymore. And i don’t know if rising or falling edge and which Resistor and so on.

  2. I tried giving it more air but I fail to understand the Injector DC staying at 0%. Maybe LC fuel enrichment -100? Whatever that is?

  3. Not sure about the Boost target either. is it absolute or just overpressure?

Me trying to start:
2024-04-27_10.emub3 (53.1 KB)
20240427_2108.emublog3 (60.7 KB)
scope_2024427_219.emubscp3 (632 Bytes)

Help would be apprechiated. especially to be sure about the Triggers.

DO you have working trigger settings from V2 ?

Well with these settings i could start into idle once or twice. I’m not sure if these are correct though.

I wanted to use my timing light and check the timing, but i couldn’t get it running another time anymore. it was running very rich and only 500RPM and so on. so not enough air. But i gave up and i didn’t continue more, because V3 came out.

I started with V2 like 4 weeks ago and changed to V3 like last weekend.

Hi,
For me these settings work.

Update: I checked wit oscilloscope Pin 8 (Primary Trigger Input). It is actually a VR Sensor and the polarity is (now) correct.

Unfortunately the scope still does not get anything as long as i have VR set. no matter changing rising and falling and pullup/pulldown. if i change to Hall then it can sync and show me a scope. it’s the wrong sensor type though.

i believe VR sensor setting is looking for zero volt crossing and hall for threshold 2.5v so i guess possible something wrong like you have connected 5v there and waveform is offested…

aaa… I’m not sure if I understand correctly. as far as i remember out of my head it is connected to sensor Ground and 5V Supply. should it be connected to 12V?

Research on the internet told be to have 4.5V between pin 1 and 3?

if is vr need sensor ground and signal no 5v …

As a Greg says the VR sensor should be connected to the ground and EMU primary trigger input. The VR sensor input circuit checks for 0V crossing.

:flushed: you might be right. I think i still have it connected as if it was a hall sensor with + and - and signal. and it needs no + only - and - and signal. i have to recheck that tomorrow afternoon.

Hi, regarding Autotune.
For example: i used autotune and it tuned some sectors in VE table but i realized that i need to change injector DC and carry on tuning VE table, but sector tuned is wrong now and collected data too and i need to retune it, is it possoble to delete collected data and start autotune again?

I’m not sure if I understan you corrextky, but you can clear the log.

yes, please tell me how can I clear the log.

Aaa… There is Play and Pause Button in the toolbar of the log. Left of that is the eraser symbol to clear the log. If I’m not mistaken the autotune funktion takes the recorded data from the log. if you delete the log then it starts from 0 and you record “fresh data”

Update:

It was wrongly connected. I rechecked everything and rewired the cable and voila: Trigger working. Thank you very much for the help @Greg and @Jadzwin_ECUMASTER . I will for sure need your help in the future.

Quick question: in firing order: what does invert phase exactly do?

And if i want to offset my order then i have to change my firing order directly right?

If you have a spark with the proper timing but in wrong phase, you can jsut tick this check box and emu recalculate the parameters internaly.
For 4 or 6 cykinders engine it is easy (like in v2 add 2 or 3 to outputboffser). But for 5 or 3 cylinders engines it is more complicated in v2 as you need tonrecalculateboffset and trigger tooth.

So in v3 the things are much easier

Ah. So it shifts everything by 360°?

Exactly. It is the simpelst explanation

 I found the main issue. While changing something in the wiring harness some time ago a cable ripped off. I rechecked literally every cable until I found it. But now i redid the part that was the problem and i could start for the first time again. Runns horrible for now. but it runs.

This is not an issue atm. But can someone explain why the INJ order is so messed up everywhere? Like why is #1 left out for so long? and wtf happened all of a sudden that #2 and #3 got 4x and then nothing for a long time and then #1 and #4?
